eorge William Hill founded Hill's Resort in 1946. His love of Priest Lake came from spending his childhood summers at the family cabin at Hunt Creek on the east side of the lake. After returning to Spokane from naval service he decided the city was not for him and returned to Priest Lake to begin the Hill's Resort legacy. In 1954 he married Lois Montecucco, and together, their vision of this resort and Priest Lake has created the place that we all consider to be so special. The Hill family has continued its hands-on management style since the passing of George Hill in 1990 and remains dedicated to providing a quality experience for you and your family or associates.

In the early years the "season" was June - Labor Day. The off season was spent building more cabins, remodeling the lodge and restaurant (still a never ending challenge), and of course, family time. The family has continued to grow and so has our season. Hill's Resort at Priest Lake is now a year round vacation resort. We are open 12 months a year for lodging. The restaurant is open daily mid-May through mid-October and weekends all other months as well as the week between Christmas and New Year's. New Year's Eve has become one of our biggest and busiest nights. So much for winters in Mexico!
In 1991, Family Circle Magazine selected Hill's Resort as winner of the "1991 Family Resort of the Year" in the Cabin/Resort category. This was a special honor for us as these awards were chosen by the readers, our guests. The resort has also received national recognition for many of our recipes. We have been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Pacific Northwest Magazine, and Parents Magazine
In response to overwhelming requests for the resorts sauces and preserves, Hill's now markets its products so guests can take home a jar of Hill's Homemade BBQ sauce or huckleberry preserves and relive their vacation memories right in their own back yard.
Second, third and even some fourth generation guests return to Hill's with their families each year in order to continue the tradition of a vacation in the place we call home. Whether fall, winter, spring or summer, Hill's Resort and Priest Lake have something to offer you.
